Farm life
The Oberbacherhof is located in Mühlbach above Gais at an altitude of 1,350 meters and is a traditional farm in the middle of a picturesque landscape.
Here, nature dictates the rhythm of life, and the seasons set the pace. Farm life begins in the early morning hours, even before the first rays of sunlight touch the fields.
The Oberbacherhof is a dairy farm where the cows are milked daily. The milk is delivered every day to the Mila cooperative, which processes it. Father Hans and mother Paula are up early to take care of the cows. During the summer months, the cows spend their time on the alpine pasture, where they enjoy fresh grass.
The alpine meadows are rich in valuable grasses and herbs that ensure excellent milk quality. There, too, Mama Paula and Father Hans lovingly care for the animals and take them to pasture every day. Father Hans has a very special connection with the cows – each one has its own name, and he knows their individual quirks perfectly.
Besides caring for the animals, there's a lot of work to be done on the steep fields, especially in summer. The whole family pitches in. Angelika's siblings – Manfred, Christina, and Andrea – also help whenever possible. While tractors and agricultural machinery make the work easier, much is still done by hand – a tradition cherished at Oberbacherhof. Maintaining the fields is particularly important, because without it, the landscape would become overgrown and lose its characteristic appearance.
The farm is home not only to cows, but also to other animals. We have our loyal dog Benny and several cats, all part of farm life and contributing to a lively atmosphere.
When the sun sinks behind the hills in the evening and a pleasant silence descends upon the farmyard, a fulfilling day comes to an end.
Oberbacherhof is far more than a workplace – it is a place full of tradition, community and deep connection to nature.
